Yes, the football part is embarrassing in the context of thinking it makes Columbus a big deal.

I never took one class at OSU (went to CSCC and Capital) but probably know more campus spots than actual graduates just from high school.

Beck at Bernie's Bagels in 1993 with less than 100 people in the crowd.

Used Kids, many iconic shows at Newport, Mr. Mustards, etc.

Live right outside UCSD now and its nowhere close to the environment of OSU in terms of being open to everyone. Same for UCLA and U of AZ.

Only Used Kids truly remains (Newport very corporate now). However, it is a really great record shop. Was in there on Tuesday, walked out with 10 records. Summit Music Hall and Rambling House are both pretty cool too though.

I have real time data to support my position.
That's not because of Catholicism, it's how Iberian colonies progressed in the Americas. There are former colonies of Britain, France, Dutch that are chitholes as well. When people think of Brazil they they think dangerous, violent, cities, favelas, Rio etc. But if you go to the South where the heavier German influence is there are large safer cities like Curitiba, Florianopolis, Blumenau etc.
Most of Europe is becoming chitholes because of mass migration of non Europeans. The place where this doesn't happen are the best and safest like Poland, Hungary etc.

These are just straw men, though. Has anyone ever argued it's the "urban paradise of the Midwest"? OSU is an asset, to be sure, but far from the only one.

Compared to the rest of its peer group, it definitely is the urban paradise of the Midwest.

Again, you guys try to compare apples and oranges. It's not New York and it's not Chicago and it's not LA. Thank God for that.

If you can find something racist let me know. I am not the one who brought up Iberian colonies and anti Catholic stuff. Why do you hate safe cities?

Hey look, Columbus is improving its symphony venue. $275 million on a new symphony performance center right on the river overlooking downtown. Looks very nice. Columbus stepping up its amenity game a bit.
