hello there,

we are possibly moving to the columbus area and was wondering about the Groveport, Reynoldsburg area? How are the schools, housing, crime? you know, the important things...we are coming from the burbs of detroit so I'm sure weather and all is pretty much the same.... we are looking for a 4 bedroom house for less than $170, and in a good area with good schools..is that even out there? thanks in advance, much appreciated!

The Groveport area is definarely becomming a hotbed of housing activity. The Groveport Area has really been expirancing alot of growth jobwise due to it being targeted by the state of Ohio for a international commerce zone. As for the crime rate, you can find about the violent crime index and the like via google (Thats what i always do). The median home price in Groveport is in the $150s and Reynoldsburg is in the 160s (that's for a 3br 2ba home). So something in the 170s is definately doable for a 4br.

Default Housing Prices in the Columbus Area

Based on homes sold 2006 to date the average price of a home in Groveport was $141534 and had 1713 sq feet 3bd 1 bath; with four bedroom homes starting at approx. $110000.Reynoldsburg homes average price was $140772 and had 1616 sq ft 3bd 1.5 baths with four bedroom homes starting at $115000. You may also want to consider Grove City where the average sold price was $149665 and average sq ft of 1651 3bd 1.5 bath with 4bdrm homes starting at approx. $115000. If you would like a more rural setting consider homes in Madison and Picway county. Even though these are more rural areas they are still within a 30 minute commute from many parts of the counties to downtown Columbus. Homes sold in Madison county had an average of 1640sq feet 3bdrm 1 bath at $147317. Picway County -1731 sq ft 3bdrm 1 bath at $144873. Homes in these rural areas have a more varying degree of land associated with them with 4 bdrm homes beginning in the $120000 range. These numbers do not take into consideration condition, quality, curb appeal etc... they are just numbers to give you an idea of what to expect from the housing market in these areas. Hope this helps! If you need info on other areas? ... send me an email or private message.
