....namely, one block south of franklin park conservatory, on Oak street.

I was told it is a mixed demographic and mostly gay. none of this bothers me.

I'm simply looking for a crime-free area or as close to it as I can find.

Can someone tell me about this area?

This area has a large gay and low income population, while you run into patches that look rather run down, for the most part the people are friendly. Currently (as of today) I have seen many construction/city crews fixing up houses, side walks and doing other revitalization projects.

If crime free is your main criteria, I would look elsewhere. I know there are worse places out there, but the area around the conservatory isn't exactly the first place I would think of moving for a close to crime free area. Bexley is much better and very close by to where you are looking. If you are wanting to stay in the near east Columbus area, I would recommend that community.

If the near east side is not a requirement, why not look near Grandview or Victorian Village or somewhere a little further out?
