The end of an era;

Limewire, one of the world's biggest file-sharing websites, has been shut down by a US judge after a four-year legal battle. In a huge victory for the record industry, New York District Judge Kimba Wood issued a permanent injunction, ordering the service to stop supplying its software and to block the sharing of unauthorised files. file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/IBMUSE%7E1/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.png (broken link)

Really haven't used that site in a while -due to all the virus's and malware.

I think this is only a drop in the bucket, for shared music downloads....

MP3Rocket said a “nice increase in downloads” following LimeWire’s shutdown. BearShare saw a 780% increase in US downloads, up from 8000 to 62,400 a day.

Time will tell........

Don't worry, there's still plenty of gullible IE users out there who will click on anything and everything to keep you busy.

The OP really meant STOLEN music downloads, not shared music downloads. No one sharing music files via Limewire or any other network legally can share their music files.

Good riddance.

So you are saying me and the guys record some music from our band and share it on one of these Torrent sites and that's illegal?

And what percentage of P2P traffic is that compared to "sharing" rips of commerical CDs?

I suspect the porn sites will still give you plenty of computers to clean.

There is always going to be a demand for p2p sharing. It may change names or forms but it will always be there.

I have never been big on downloading music from these types of providers. You can buy a song for .86 at Walmart or .99 at Amazon why take the chance of downloading a virus that will make your computer crazy? It's not worth it IMHO.

Given that bittorrents been out for almost a decade, I can't imagine Limeware having been so popular anymore
