I am trying to use a VGA to HDMI converter to connect a Acer Aspire small laptop to a Philips HDTV. I've got the HDMI cable running from TV to converter, VGA cable from converter to laptop and sound cable from laptop to converter. The picture is fine but there is no sound coming from the TV. Does anybody know if there is something else I need to do?
Just get a Roku Smart TV device, and you can watch NetFlix, Hulu, YouTube, etc. all on your TV in High Definition (1080p), and not worry about involving your PC.
You can buy them at Walmart, Best Buy, etc. for around $99 or less.

You said sound is connected from laptop to converter. Is it a headphone 3.5mm jack? If you just plug in headphones , do you hear sound?
