i'm wondering whats left on my hard drive after i reformat it to original factory settings and completely wipe everything off it and re install i thought it wiped off everything but after i do a full re format i get the old links in ie explorer i thought it wiped them out to i know it makes the pc like a virgin and it was brand new but shouldn't wipe off the old ie links as well or is that something different
I don't use IE and haven't in years but in firefox you can store and sync all of your browser info online. With that set up, any time you get a new computer or reinstall a browser etc. it will automatically resync all of your browser info and restore it. Do you have anything like this installed in IE that may be putting it all back?
no i don't use fire fox tried it years ago and it left spyware all over my pc to the point i had to wipe my hard drive i'm just using ie.
Like skel1977 alluded to, fire fox is just a web browser. It does nothing to put spyware on your computer, now what sites you visit with it.....that is a different story. If you didn't visit them, someone else using your computer did. lol
I wasn't asking if you are using FF, I was just asking if you are using an add on or some other method of syncing your browsing data and that is what is causing it to return.
could have been a glitch at the time i don't go where i shouldn't be going i have to much bussiness stuff on my pc. not blaming fire fox someone could have some how gotten in and sliped in a virues to my firewall is on and my security software is upto date but theres always a better hacker out there we just have to be carefull
Depending on how you restored it the original factory settings it may have saved much of your old data. Certain installation methods will move data from default locations to a protected folder, install Windows and then your old stuff will still be on the drive. This is preferrable for most people since many do not know how to make a backup.
As Coalman said above, you probably didn't do a format.
i use the viao recovery dvd it says its deleteing a partition and creating one as well
