I need some advice, pls!

Is it possible to hook up my old casio to my Mac so I can use software (garage band) to create scores?

I guess what I am looking for is - some type of converter that would interface between the midi on the casio and a USB port on my Mac.

Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for?

You want exactly that - a USB MIDI interface. They are very easy to find.
