From the factory my Dell came with a "RECOVERY (D" drive. I assume this contains my operating system and driver software but I don't know how to use it when I need to restore my operating system; I have the original CD's so it's not really an issue; just curiosity. Can you help the clueless understand what the purpose is and how I'd go about using this instead of the CD's.

You should have a recovery option in your program list.

Most Dells you press either F12 or F11 or some other F key when the Bios (the DELL screen) pops up....
