A memory upgrade is very easy. It's inexpensive to get some, and doesn't take that long. The catch is to look up mow much memory your computer is up gradable to (My computer currently holds 1 GB and expandable to 2 GB. It has two 512 MB chips). Adding more memory can make it run faster. Also, look up which kind of memory the computer can hold. Please visit RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, SSD at Crucial.com to see which memory the computer can hold. I upgraded the memory this weekend, and it was a no brainer.

I'd say 12 gb is good enough memory capacity. But my new i7 2600K computer had to take 16GB instead of 12GB, and I've never gone above 9 GB memory load with a ton of programs and web browsers open. But memory is so cheap nowadays.

I wonder how the OP would feel if I reported his link to crucialaffiliates@micron.com? That link was no doubt posted to earn the 7% affiliate commission every time someone follows that link and ends up purchasing memory from Crucial.
