Is this a new OS you are developing or were you listening to Annie Lennox?
Anyhow, this is how I would upgrade a decade old laptop:
- Sell it using whatever site or means to get the most $$ for it.
- Put the $$ I made from the old laptop into buying a newer laptop within my budget.
The OP isn't adding any of the requested information. I'd guess they haven't been back to this thread and you're wasting you're time giving advice.
Good point, Tek. Any further replies are useless until the OP come back with some more info. (Besides, if not the OP, to whom would a reply be directed?)
Old laptops make great home fileservers if they have Ethernet - and if the battery still holds a charge it has a built-in UPS. Try FreeBSD and install Samba & sshd - this is what I do with mine (a P1 at that) and it works great. It can hook up to a an external Firewire HDD with an adapter to give u more disk space.
