Suddenly my mouse has taken to freezing and the computer makes the sound like it is unplugging a device--that de-nong sound.

I have run MalWarebyte and Spybot, neither have detected a problem. Is it possibly my mouse? It is plugged into the USB.

I am also using a wireless keyboard, but the wireless mouse companion is DOA.

I would suspect a hardware problem rather that software. Can you try a different usb port?

Somewhere in this forum is a discussion about usb port problems and what others have found that cause them. A search might find it.

I'm with Tek on this, sounds like hardware.

I have a mouse that does the same thing when the cable gets crimped hard to one side. Could be the mouse itself, a cable, or even the USB port.
