Well, we are cleaning and I finally convinced my husband that ancient computers, analog monitors, 56k modem cards, an old CB radio, etc really just have no place in our house.
What is the best way to get rid of them? Does Goodwill actually do anything with them? Is there any utility or is it off to the landfill which has an electronics recycle program? We have accumulated a lot of old outdated stuff (yes I know for computers with hard drives you want to remove the hard drive or take it someplace where you ensure it is wiped clean)
You could look on Ebay or Craigslist to see if there is any value to some of the items, but your best bet is probably the free section on craigslist, freecycle, goodwill, etc.
Ok, Goodwill says they will take them so I will go with that......I was surprised .......... I just dont want to be anybody's dumping ground but like the potential of recycling. And it is fast and safe.
Donate used computers to organizations like Free Geek.
^^ That's what I did Went to the one in Portland. Love that it provides a way for folks who don't have money for a computer to actually donate their time and earn a computer system.
Check your city or county's website, they may have an e-waste collection/recycling program.
