I've had mines since 2007 and it still works just as good as the day I bought it. It was my first Mac. I've raj through about 4 pcs seeing as though they crash/become corrupted and unworkable . Is it standard for macs to last long time?
You've gone through 4 pc's in 5 years?
Bought a Windows laptop in 2007 for $600. Still runs like new (I did reformat about a year ago). Wife uses it still today to work from home.
*Note: Not saying PC's are better then MAC's. I bet if I bought a MAC in 2007 it would still be running, as well.
Point: take care of anything and it will last a long time. Period.

+1, my 8 year old Dell laptop is still running on today as well. My son uses it several times a week.
I have 1 PC that is 10 years old and a laptop that is 9. I don't use them for primary computers any more, but they are still running. I don't understand what you would do to a computer to kill one per year.
I bought a iMac three years ago and have never been more satisfied. It runs great, plenty of memory, and it hasn't slowed down despite all the pictures an music I have out on there. I don't think I will ever go back to pc. I also have apple iPod and iPhone. Big apple fan!

I'd think if the OP spent the same amount of money for his Windows platform as the Mac the lifetime would be the same....
yea i think so too.. its either it all now or pay later but i will have to pay it.

I have a Gateway from 2000 that I tuned into an internet and homework only machine for the kids. To be honest though I did make a few modifications. Only thing that has gone wrong with it was the power source that I replaced a few years back.

Well don't punch the monitor when you don't like what you read. Never had a monitor fail. Too rough on a monitor, watching rough sex porn
