I'm searching for a light laptop that can hold 32gb of memory. I current have a Toshiba Portege R830 ( less than 3 lbs) and I have 16gb in it and I love it but, the nature of what I do (lots of VMs with extenstive simulation) I need more. I would like it to not be a tank. So far I have come up with the Lenovo w530 (littlle over 6lb and an i7) which can take 32gb, looks good but I thought I'd do one more check to see if there are any other contenders.

Please no comments like "why do you need 32gb...I do just fine with 8gb", trust me, I do

Thanks!

What about an online configurator that has drop down boxes for minimum memory?

There are all sorts of them

I use the Dell Outlet for refurbished but I don't have high performance demands like you seem to have.

I'd love to see a screenshot of you using more then 12GB.

You're probably going to need a gaming rig.

Several VMs running anywhere from 4GB-8GB assigned memory...32gb gets used up quickly.

Anyway, a gaming rig is way to heavy...seems like the Lenovo w520 or w530, and I think maybe Dell has a laptop that can take it...6.2lbs so far is the lightest I've found.
