Good morning. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas...the other day the scroll button on my mouse (new imac bought in July of 07) stopped working. I can scroll up, but it won't go down. This happened once before but it only lasted a few minutes.

Any ideas? TIA

Since I don't have an Apple computer (would like one though) I had to look this up!

Apple Mighty Mouse Won’t Scroll Down at Josh Bancroft’s TinyScreenfuls.com

Hope it helps!

Is it a wireless mouse, or just a wired one that has a light? I have the second one, and have never had a problem with it. If it's the one with the laser light underneath, make sure that the desk's surface where you have the mouse is clean. With this mouse you don't need a mouse's pad, but the desk surface must be uniform.

If that's not the problem, you may want to call Apple. They are pretty good honoring the warranty.

I use a damp paper towel with rubbing alcohol, roll the ball in all directions while pressing down. Blow dry.

The new mouse has no tracking ball.

What I am refering to is the scrolling ball on top of the mouse.

I'm just experiencing the same problem. I've tried to reboot in safe mode and turn of the machine for a while but not fixed yet. Can you help?

Thanks

I think this could be a software issue. Mine stopped working in Firefox back in February, for a couple of weeks after an update and canned air was no help. Then it started working again just as mysteriously. Make sure your browser and Mac OS Software Update are as current as possible.

Lots of good info here:

clean imac mouse - Google Search

I clean mine with rubbing alcohol. Looks like most of the problem is caused by oils on your finger.
