The only thing I like about Mac laptops are their retina display of very high resolution and their 16:10 aspect ratio. Otherwise I would use a Mac because I use a lot of PC software that would run in a Mac. SO I need a PC laptop.
Windows runs on a Mac... and Windows can run most PC software.

LIke NJ says you can run windows on a mac, however retina support is poor.

Windows 8 also works fine with high res displays, as do earlier versions. The trouble isn't really windows, it's programs that don't deal with scaling appropriately (or, in many cases, at all). It's not an issue with the metro interface and apps, but many traditional desktop apps are broken in a variety of inconsistent ways.

Windows 8 and earlier had support for high resolution, but it did not work "fine" as you put it. The problem is that you were limited to 1080p on a typical 14" laptop before fonts became unreadable. With Windows 8.1, they've added support for scaling of fonts for high resolution displays.
Personally I find everything I use runs naively in OSX, with the exceptions of Rhino V5 (still in beta on OSX) and Revit. I think most mac users find this, the majority of applications have a native version except for one or two. The situation is getting better year on year however, if only autodesk would release Revit for OSX I could kiss windows goodbye.
