in my opinion, it's best for getting quick pieces of data such as your calendar, weather, sports scores, driving directions, taking pictures/videos, etc.

as for some of the negative stuff in this thread...i think the whole camera and spying thing is overblown. if i really wanted to take surreptitious video of you i would use my cell phone and hold it casually down with my hands or clip it to my belt, not a big camera that's staring right at you on my face.

it's definitely new technology but it will be interesting to see some new apps come online.
Based on your experience with it, do you think it is fairly valued at $1500, or do you think Google will be dropping the price a lot?

According to the below article from August 2013, most people feel they would buy it for $200, but would be reluctant to spend even $500:

Breaking Google Glass Into Pieces: The Costs of Production and Likely Retail Price - NASDAQ.com

Quote:
In public talks, he has asked audiences about their willingness to purchase a Glass headset, and found that most people were reluctant to buy the device at $500. But, he says, when he asked crowds about whether they'd purchase Glass at $200, "literally every hand went up."
They've estimated the parts are only worth around $210, so I'm wondering what would be a reasonable price to pay for it?

I'm thinking around $299 - $349 is probably where it's heading.

I would buy it if they partner up with some stylish frame wear company(cause it looks too nerdy right now) and drop it to around $200-300 which i see happening in a couple of years. I see other companies getting into this too.

I'm pretty sure they've teamed up with Luxottica to do more stylish versions.

I wouldn't think about buying one unless it was in the $200-$300 range. So, you can most likely count me out for a number of years.

I am also waiting to hear about the first assault charge on someone who forcibly pulls the Google Glass off someones face because they think they are being recorded.

I hear ya. I love my Nexus 7 FHD and choose to use it more often than my Glass.

What baffles me is the people who have never even used Glass for an extended period of times knocking it. Okay, you used it for several weeks/months and it didn't work out. Non-technology-enthusiasts prefer to just remain ignorant and dismiss it. While technology enthusiasts like yourself will give it a shot, assess it, and then decide.

People have always cut down things they didn't have a clue about. I'm pretty sure when the automobile first came out, some was talking mad crap about it that had no clue what it could do or lead to.

I don't think so, not with that hefty price tag of $1500, it's definitely a no for me!
