So, we are pregnant with my first child and my wifes 3rd. We went for the sonogram last week(it's a girl) and they recorded it on a dvd for us. It is on a dvd-rw. I want to e-mail the sonogram to family members however none of my e-mail accounts will let me send it. I tried uploading it to a popular video website and it wouldn't recognize the file extension. The extension is .VOB..............any ideas on how I can send this or upload it or maybe compress the file so I can send it. The video consists of 5 different clips and they are each 37,280 in size. I try one at a time and still nothing.

BTW, my wedding video has the same file extension and no problems with it!

.vob is "Video File Object," for DVDs. DVD playing software on computers can generally play this.

You need DVD ripping software to convert it to something else. Almost no email server will accept files that size, so you'd have to convert it, downsample it and probably compress it... and then it would be of poor quality.

I suggest DVD copies and US mail. Your computer should have a DVD program which supports creating an exact copy; you can use that to make the copies.

You can try changing the extension to .MPEG and it might play... but the file size would still be an issue when emailing.

Rename each file extension from .vob to .txt and email them. Tell the recipients to download them and rename them back to .vob.

Also check file size and make sure the recipients can receive large file formats. Someone tried to email a DVD to a friend of mine the other day and it was over 1 GB - waaay too large.
