Preface this with: I'm sorry. Maybe I'm a bit crabby today.
Do you not know how to search the internet? I mean really? It's not even Black Friday yet. I assume... sometime between now and Dec 24th there are going to be 100's of "deals" on hard drives.
And external hard drives are ALREADY pretty cheap. What kind of a deal do you need?

I have zero experience with Xbox, or with any game box in saving games, but I do have a lot of experience with storing large data sets. (file collections for my work run from 10 GB to 2 TB).
I have the fastest HDD to HDD connections for a PC that I know about: Internal HDD (via SATA 3) to an External HDD (via USB 3). When I copy or backup them, it takes a LONG LONG time!
Example: The last set I copied was 570 GB and it took 4 hours, 45 minutes. Prorating that for 60 GB means it would take me 30 minutes.
QUESTION:
Do storing games really require such large files? If so, do gamers really wait up to a half hour to save their games? (or do game systems use transfer protocols that are faster than for my PC Windows 7).

Modern games really are that large, but it's mostly read only assets (graphics, data files, sound and music, etc).
Most files aren't used all at once, and most are only saved once on download / update.
The actual game saves (state files) are relatively small.
