I have two computers: A Windows 8.1, and a Windows 7, and need total security for both, in 9 days. I had McAfee before, but it got pricey.
Perusing through the internet, I came across PC antivirus reviews, which lists Vipre for $39.99, each pc, and appears to be very-well recommended by the above reviewer.

Any site that sells what it reviews is very suspect, and in almost all cases these sites rate the software that makes them the most money as the highest.
Results change depending on who does the reviews and how they do them, for the most part they're only good for a general idea, some aren't even good for that.
If you'd like to read reviews from the general public who have purchased Vipre, you can see some here. You can see even more if you go to the other Vipre products this company sells. This particular product is the one that protects three PCs and 3 mobile devices for $49.95. I can't give you any opinion on Vipre since I don't have it, but I generally like to read product reviews. I throw out the people who sound like cranks and the people who love everything madly and judge by the people who articulate specifically what they like/don't like, and why. I use Microsoft Security Essentials and along with common sense never have a problem. Download it for Win7 and it's included in Win8, you just need to turn it on. All anti-virus programs have holes, and MSE works just about as good as any of them.

The Internet, not unlike this forum, is full of opinions. For all any of us know, that article was written by some McAfee hack. Seriously, you're citing "Expert Reviews" like it's some sort of authority. LOL...at least CNET has been around for a very long time and is a standard in the industry.
Yeah, let's trust CNET, the website that downloads more unwanted crap to computers without warning users than any other site on the planet. I won't visit that site, ever.

The standard in the industry? Hardly They would be in the running for the bloatware capital of the web maybe.
