The electrician came yesterday, since I was still having problems with my computer crashing, but not as often. He replaced all of the outlets, and said that when the building that I live in was converted to studios, the electricians did a shoddy job, and put everything onto one breaker.

Hopefully, the computer problems have gone by the wayside now.

You should consider buying a surge protector.

Peach, you missed the original thread about these problems. surge protection was covered there.

Excellent suggestion.

It's on a surge protector (not a power strip), always has been, and my old Dell was on one, too. When I bought this computer, I replaced the surge protector with a heavier duty one.

My internet/cable-tv cable runs near the fridge and stove. So when I switch my stove-oven on/off or when my fridge cycles on........my tv connection will go haywire and I will get a
connection-interruption message on my TV screen.

You should have just gotten a battery backup.

The battery backup wouldn't have done any good, because it was happening too often.

The problem happened again last night. I sent the property manager an email to have the electrician give me a call.
