I have been quite pleased to see so many folks that hang around this forum who have alternative operating systems and apparently some creative set ups and networks. I have also seen quite the debate on the merits of "to Vista or not to Vista" so I am just curious to get an idea of the variety of operating systems our members use.
Since folks today often have more than one computer set up in their homes and offices, I will allow for multiple voting and would also love to hear some commentary on why people made their choices.

I have XP on a few machines, but a couple of them are dual boot with Mandriva Linux. I also have a couple standalone Linux machines which use Mandriva or SuSE OpenLinux.
I used to seriously dislike Windows, and it took me a couple years to adopt XP after it came out because of that dislike. Overall, though, I'm pleased with XP and its reliability, which I would never say about 95/98/ME. I haven't tried Vista, and based on what I've read about it, I'm not anxious to do so. I will stick with XP for my Windows machines for the time being.

That's why my vote went to other. Last month I marked my 20th year that I've been a Mac user.

Sorry folks, my bad, I didn't even think about MAC, and I wish I could adjust this poll because it is pretty popular OS.

My primary desktop OS is still OS/2 Warp 4. Yes, I'm a fossil. :-)
I also use Windows XP Pro, Windows 2000, Windows 95 OSR2, a number of Linux variants (DSL, Puppy, Xubuntu, Mandriva, Mandrake 8.2), and eComStation 1.2 on various boxes on my home LAN, and I also have FreeBSD, Solaris, and BeOS desktops still installed but mostly idle on a few of those boxes.
If PC/GEOS (NewDeal Office, formerly known as Geoworks Ensemble) counts, I still use that from time to time in a VDM or DOS box, mainly for drawing things in GeoDraw.
At work I use Linux (RH Enterprise), Solaris 9, Unisys OS2200, and Windows XP Pro. No Vista permitted here.
