A heads up for those that use 3rd party ink with their HP printers.

HP accused of Sabotaging Non-HP Ink Cartridges

Another reason added to the list of why I haven't used an HP printer in many years.

My Brother printer uses cheap 3rd-party in cartridges just fine.
I have not had a good HP printer yet -- gone through 3 in my lifetime.

I bought an HP laser printer over 10 years ago. Still works great today.

Most Brother printers ARE H-P printers. They pay H-P rights/royalty to put their name on the printer. You can do it also [if you have the cash].

Didn't HP also pioneer chips in the cartridges, to block third parties?

Geesh, great company...

Wow, I didn't know HP is an OEM for Brother. Oh well, I guess it's just coincidence then.

I have had a relatively cheap HP laser printer printing every day for about 4 years already. I buy the cheap 3rd party toner sold at Amazon.

However, I don't want to buy another HP laser printer unless I can use 3rd party toner.

The actual print devices make little to no profit for companies.
The big profit comes in from the supplies so they need to sell supplies to make profit.

Imho, it is their fault since they are charging such high prices and push most towards cheaper 3rd party alternatives.

Whose fault is it in buying cheap printer, expensive ink? Not the mfgr as much as the consumer. Epson has a line of expensive printers but cheap ink. How many people are buying these? How many reading here even know about this?
