I've seen demonstrations on YouTube of people playing WoW on Ubuntu Linux. They give directions for both Wine and playonlinux, but neither of them work. they guy who had it on his machine was using an older version of Linux. I'm using 17.10 and I like it. He suggested going to another distro, but I don't want to.
Any suggestions? Should I give it up, or is there another way to do it? Will waiting for 18.04 LTS help at all?
I have the very basic folder, but I don't think that anything was configured. How do you do that? I've tried looking through https://wiki.winehq.org/Recommended_Packages but it doesn't really make that much sense to me.
I'm not sure that I've got WINE properly installed. I have all of the files in a folder, but what do I have to click on or install to make it work?
Linux is not DOS 3.3, you can't always just stick files in a folder and expect shtuff to work. It has to be properly installed. Linux programs often have dependencies on other packages/libraries. Have you heard of apt-get? How can you expect to play with Linux if you haven't got even basic search techniques down in order to find information you need? We can't hold your hand, if you want to play with Linux, you have to learn. Put on your google-glasses and go learn, hint: >>WINE UBUNTU<<.
Thanks for the suggestion, Zymer, I'll give it a try. I was able to install the Firestorm client and get Second Life to work. If anyone else uses it, look for MyrddinG.
