I've tried researching this but I just don't understand much computer speak. I learned that eMMC is between HDD (don't know what that is) and an SSD (I understand this one).
I've heard eMMC can be really slow on a Windows laptop, but I'm buying a Chromebook. I'd rather have an SSD Drive but choices are limited and not customizable.
The model I'm looking at has 32GB eMMC. For basic internet browsing and watching a few videos, is this going to be slow?
Should be fine for those purposes. eMMC 5.1, the current standard, hits around 400 MB/s, which is near SSD speeds of a few years ago. Even if only half that speed it’s still fine.
Thanks Mark. That's exactly what I wanted to know. I research a computer to death before buying one. Most websites that explain things are far too wordy and beat around the bush, trying to be clever.
