I've been using Wi-fi in the local public libraries. I've heavily used Protonmail for emails.

I need to start relying on my Microsoft "Surface" 8.1 laptop. But I can't access Protonmail on my Surface. I can access any other email provider except Protonmail.

As a test, I tried accessing Protonmail on a library computer. My logon was successful. I used Internet Explorer because that's the one on my Surface (RT model doesn't allow downloading other browsers). So it seems I.E. isn't the problem.

Then I tried accessing Protonmail on my Surface in the same library and same Wi-fi. I was careful to type the correct password. But the page suddenly freezes up (doesn't tell me my password is wrong, which it wasn't).

I also tried at another public Wi-fi location (not a library) and the same thing happened.

Here's what happens each time I try:
I can access the Protonmail logon page.
I can enter my password.
But then the page freezes up.

I contacted Protonmail. They suggested I disable my extensions, re-set my cache, and re-set my browser history. I did all that but still can't get past the Proton logon page.

Any suggestions on getting my Surface to access Protonmail?

Thanks!

Just another example of why RT failed.

I think at this point your best bet is to just set it up with the mail client built in to Windows 8 and just use it like that.
