It was convenient to press the real button to unplug a floppy disk. Now we have to move the mouse pointer, press a few virtual buttons and wait for some time to return a flash card. Why haven't the producers developed a comfortable way to unplug a flash card?

You're joking right? There was a recent post comparing Win 98 to Win 10 and that was a joke IMO.

Do you prefer the capacity of a 5.25" inch floppy at 360k? a single density 3.5" at 720k or a double at 1.44mb?

Even a 1GB flash drive which is way outdated will hold over a thousand floppies worth.

By the way, you can just eject your flash memory depending on your settings.

I don't think I have ever used the safe removal except for external HD's. The only issue I'm aware of is if you are writing data and remove it before that has been completed.

The only time I think floppies were more "convenient" was close to 30 years ago when you could fit DOS 3.3 with some diagnostic programs onto a single floppy disk.

And I challenge anyone during a write cycle to just pull out a floppy disk too.

My vote is 100% for solid state over magnetic media.

Not sure if it's all of them but you can get command prompt while using a windows install/recovery CD/DVD/USB. There is also something like Knoppix with is bootable from CD/DVD/USB, I've also downloaded specific tools packaged with a lightwieght *nix OS also bootable from CD/DVD/USB.

You can buy a 16GB USB stick for $5, you would need 11,000 floppies.... LOOOOOOOOL

Most 2 megapixel images would not fit on floppy....

Understood...note I was talking 30 years ago. When DOS 4.x came out you needed 2 floppies

I missed the 8” era but have fond memories about the Seagate ST-225. That was back when Western Digital made controller cards and you had to low level format the drives.

IIRC the command in Debug was G=C800:5.....
