1803 is a must-have for any Windows Mixed Reality user (if you're a Hololens user you're probably on the insider track anyway though). For the WMR headsets including the Odyssey it brings much better boundary locating, significant tracking improvements (still not as good as Rift or Vive though), controller haptics (although this is based on ERMs rather than LRAs like Rift and Vive, so it's kind of fuzzy), a new WMR home environment, a fix for the VRAM issue, built-in spacewarp reprojection, and a few other tweaks and features.
In addition to the new computer I mentioned in my last post, I also have a 13" MacBook Air I purchased on sale in July of 2016 (Early 2015 by 'Apple terminology'...i5, 8GB RAM 128GB SSD).
Last week I noticed on MacRumors (via a member who had tested the fix for two weeks without issue) that Duet Display had come up with a permanent fix to the 'break' that High Sierra 10.13.4 'caused', so I decided to finally upgrade from El Capitan to High Sierra 10.13.4 (I wanted to have the current version of Photos).
During the Summer of 2016 I purchased Windows 10, partitioned the hard drive, and did a BootCamp installation of Windows 10. Last week I determined that I was going to fall a bit short (even with deleting quite a bit) re having enough room to allow for just the installation (not the eventual size) of High Sierra 10.13.4. I ended up having to delete the Windows partition in order to install High Sierra 10.13.4, which I did successfully. Unfortunately, when I tried to reinstall Windows 10, I got an error (no need to elaborate) that was snagging the reinstall. Both an AppleCare supervisor and (later) a Genius at the Genius bar said the only way around this was to do a new installation. Given some off the wall old apps and programs I have, and the only repository re my FitBit data, I didn't want to do that.
I started looking into doing a VM installation of Windows 10. I decided on Oracle's VirtualBox, and downloaded it. A girl at the Microsoft Store thought that one of the techs there would be able to help me. The tech said no...you'll have to ask Apple...but you'll need a Windows 10 ISO and I'll download one for you (he saw my Win 10 box and product key). He downloaded it onto a USB stick and then copied it onto my Mac. The same Apple Genius who had suggested doing a VM in the first place helped me. He had helped customers in the past install both Parallels and the VM Ware products, but not Oracle's VirtualBox (he had to look a few things up), but the installation was successful . In going through all the set up screens on my own at the Genius Bar, I noticed that one of the screens identified it as Build 1803....so that 'rang a recent bell' when I first noticed this thread last night (not that the significant added benefits of 1803 will really be an issue given the MacBook Air hardware ).
I've been getting pop up prompts on my new HP to allow updates, but I've been clicking on 'remind me later' . When I first saw this thread last night, I checked the HP to see which Build is currently installed (It's the 1709 that st33lcas3 mentioned). The next time I get that prompt, I'll check out the contents. Perhaps Build 1803 is one of those updates.

Irrespective of any of the nice benefits that Nepenthe mentioned, I may decide to install 1803 for the 'Tap to ink' feature (mentioned on the 'consumers' link) alone.
My bad, I am so business focused it didn't even occur to me to click that link. LOL
Looked at it. Some of those updates were in the last version like Windows Dictation (which by the way is finally actually pretty good).
Yet another reason to not bother with 10. A friend just upgraded his new Surface Pro tablet to 1803 and it shut down his email account, he no longer can access it, he was not using a Windows email account instead he was using a gmail account, he asked me to look at it to see why and for the life of me I have no idea what to do to fix it except possibly go back to the start and set up a Windows email account. On top of that it seems like the update has used a good chunk of his hard drive space, how do I make more space for him, is that even possible?
Start with Disk Cleanup and select "clean up system files" option. Make sure you check the boxes and note how much you'll get back with each choice.
There are much more aggressive approaches to cleanup by delving into certain windows sub-directories, but I don't recommend it for non-specialists or non-tinkerers.
It's hard to imagine how anything with Windows would affect a gmail account, since its pure form is browser based. I suspect the update defaulted to the MS Edge browser. He should try Chrome...
On Tuesday I noticed my computer was suddenly completely bogged down and slow - reminiscent of the bad old Windows Update days. Along with that, strange things were happening with my task bar icons - like disappearing briefly and reappearing.
Wondering what the heck was going on, I opened my task manager and, sure enough, there was an update service running and consuming like 96% disk and 99% CPU intermittently. I ended that task immediately and re-gained control of my computer.
So for the last two mornings I've gotten a task bar message on startup that I had never seen before, something like "Can't install updates, click here to fix". I clicked on it just to see what it was and was directed to the update settings screen where 3 new updates were awaiting installation. One of them being the 1803 update. Puzzled by this, since my my update service has been disabled for months, I check its setting again and found that it had been changed to manual. Windows somehow did this on its own - never happened before on my computer. Needless to say, I once again disabled it and now know to monitor the setting for tampering by Big Brother Microsoft.
I am still running version 1709, build 16299.431 and it's smooth as silk. When Microsoft isn't doing its best to sabotage that stability, that is. Given this new threat to my computer's performance and reliability, I thought this would be a good time to solicit fresh commentary on the 1803 update to see what folks who are running it like and hate about it.
Comments? Spare me the knee-jerk dogma about putting the entire world in peril by shielding my system from every last bit of Microsoft malware thrown at it. All other comments regarding pros and cons of 1803 are welcome.

I have 3 computers that I interact with. All 3 are 100% up-to-date. No issues with any of them however, they are all newer. The oldest would be my work PC but it was a beast when I bought it.

What about pros and cons of 1803? After working with it for a while, have you seen anything that would make you choose it over 1709? In other words, if you could toggle simply and quickly between the two versions, which one would you prefer to work with?
I haven't really seen any difference between the two.
I have to keep a couple of my machines up to date to ensure that our software is compatible with the current version of Windows, and that we are PCI compliant, so I just leave updates on for those ones. As long as there are no issues with them, then I run the others manually (I use the metered network trick to keep updates from happening).
