I'm trying to find a program (free is great, but if it works, I'd be happy to pay) to transfer programs and files from two computers running Win 7 (one is Win 7 home the other is Win 7 Pro) to a new computer running Windows 10 Home
Files can be copied to a thumb drive or use your built in blue tooth.
Programs are probably a problem because they most likely update parts of windows. Thus coping the files over will not necessarly work.
If you do not have the original disks or access to the programs the vendor might be able to help. If the programs are windows programs they can help. Get the license number from the windows 7 and you can probably download the programs from windows and then put the license number in so they work.
You need to distinguish between two different tasks.
Moving "files" between computers. Aka: User files, Data Files, or such, like Word, Excel, PDF files, like music and video files, then it's quite easy. As mentioned above, connect the two on a network, (or via Bluetooth dongles or several other ways that can be found easily on Google), and use Windows Explorer (NOT windows internet explorer, which is a whole different thing), and copy them.
If you mean the actual programs, like the settings for Office programs, Acrobat, your browser, and any other programs that are installed in your host computers, then it varies from program to program.
As mentioned above, there are, or perhaps were, tools that helped you 'migrate' your programs from one to another, but that varies from OS to OS, and Program to Program.
