I just found out about the Control F function when looking for something in a document - too cool

With that said, are there any other cool tips or tricks?

Control H will show you a history of web pages you have visited.
Control S will save changes to a document.
Control C - copy
Control V - paste

I'd love to know other tricks too.

Go here:

For MS Windows:
Keyboard shortcuts for Windows

For MAC users:
Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts

If you use Firefox:
Keyboard shortcuts

To find shortcuts in any programme from Microsoft,
Go the [Help] section [F1] then type in [Keyboard shortcuts].

If you do a lot of *Googling* to find info,
here the stuff you need:
Google Search Shortcuts - Google Cheat Sheet

Ok, now you googling, so google for more tips and tricks ....

Try these two:

1. F11 = Full screen view

2. Hold down the Ctrl key while you scroll the mouse wheel... see what happens.

When you copy and paste you can use just the mouse. For example if you right click the address bar at the top of a browser, then click on Copy from the menu that drops out, go to an open post here on CD and right click an open area, click on Paste in the resulting menu, you will get the URL of the page in the post. No keystrokes required!

In this post: If you click anywhere in the text and hold the button down then drag the cursor across the text it will highlight all or a portion, depending on what you do. You can use the same right click/menu process above. It will only copy the highlighted text.

Double clicking a word will highlight it then use the same process to copy/paste.

Triple clicking will highlight this entire sentence.

Notice the options available when you right click, even if there is no text highlighted. "Select All" is probably an option. Quick way to copy an entire post, email, etc.

The menus available with mouse clicks are worth looking into.

The Windows key + D is one my favorite combos. It minimizes all open windows so you can easily get back to the Desktop. I work with people who have 30 windows open at a time.

Thank you. Not everyone has the Desktop icon in the Quick Launch toolbar. This will make things faster at client sites.

Appreciate it.

I frequently use Windows-L to lock my workstation and Windows-E to open an Explorer Window. Although it is not very convenient, it is possible to do almost anything on a PC without using a mouse.

Keep in mind that when you have a specific Keyboard, like for instance the Microsoft proprietary keyboard, AND you have Intellitype loaded, umpteen more short cuts are available.
Too many to know them all, but my keyboard has small pics on them or abbreviations, so all I have to do is look at them and I know what I can do.

Here the list of *commands* that are *readable* on the keys:

My documents, My pictures, My music, Mute, Media, Mail, Web/Home, Messenger, Calculator, Log off, Sleep, Help, Undo, Redo, New, Open, Close, Reply, Fwd, Send, Spell, Save, Print.

I have not found *Any Key* ......

Here the link for almost all keybd shortcuts:

If you are still looking for different ones, you've got a big problem ....
