I have Spin 5 Laptop - SP515-51GN-807G and for some reason the internet speed is slow when I check on speed test. All of my other devices have high speeds. My Samsung Galaxy S4 has almost 500 mbps. I am paying for 600 mbps internet speed and on my desktop which is connected to the modem it's about 600 mbps. The wifi I use is 5.0 on all of my devices. But on this Acer laptop the speed is as low as 30 mbps- 240 mbps. Even 240 is slow. I already sent the laptop for repair 2 times in a row for other reasons and all they did was change the motherboard, reload hard drive, and update bios. I remember before sending it for repair my laptop was getting higher speeds. I believe it got close to 500 mbps. It's NOT the internet. This is the newest modem. I even replaced this modem with another one. If I connect to 2.4 network it will just be even slower. Can changing the motherboard cause this? I don't get it. What can be causing this and how do I fix it? They already changed the motherboard 2 times. I just got it last week. I haven't used this laptop for a month now since there were 2 repairs in a row. I sent it for repair for other reasons. I just noticed the slow internet speed on this laptop yesterday and I did factory reset 2 times already. Could the speed tests be giving me wrong results only for this laptop? I tried different sites and it's always the same.

I can tell you that i've had issues with some of the preinstalled software.

We got several new Dell laptops and had a nightmare of a time getting them on our VPN.. Come to find out it was due to one of the pre-installed Dell utilities. (Don't recall exactly which one atm)

Last week, one of our guys from out of town was in and was having problems with email.. it was one of the HP utilities that is designed to protect you from bad URLs that took out Office 2010.

so.. a good start is generally removing everything they put on it.

What are you doing on that laptop that you consider 240 slow? Because it's not slow at all.

It's slow I am getting close to 500 mbps on my other devices. I am not even getting half of that and sometimes it's even lower than 240. Sometimes it goes low as 30 mbps- 240 mbps.

Do you know what model wireless LAN card is in your Acer Spin? If you don't know I'd download Belarc Advisor, which will let you know what brand and model it is, as well as check the speed of your internet connection. Also, see if there's a newer driver for your existing wlan card. Sometimes a newer driver can make all the difference!
