You're not new here. Like we don't go off topic constantly. You could just not reply too.
You're telling people...not to use wallpaper because that can slow a computer down?!?! Yea, i will debate you on that. That is constructive. People take your advice around here. IMO this isn't the best advice.
I know there are people here running Windows XP...yea maybe JohnnyMa on his XP machine might want to run no wallpaper... but on anything newer then Vista this is a non issue even on a 1.2 ghz Celeron.
Same idea as telling people NVMe drives are bad because they run hotter - I'm going to debate that one too. There's just no real life scenario where that's a problem.

This stuff is made to run with heat. Ever seen how hot a modern CPU runs, even using a water cooler?

No, your wallpaper isn't corrupting a user profile. I mean maybe on Windows 98...wait, no, I never saw that either.

Even when I had hard drives in my computer/s 10 years ago, they were not that slow loading my desktop. My wallpapers made *zero* difference.

Unless you're thinking people are still running old Pentium III's on Ultra ATA/133 hard drives...no.

Although I do miss my P3 733....that was a workhorse back in my high school/early college days

I had a Celeron 500 for the longest (that was fun to play with) until I got the P3, and god forbid, an old AMD K6-II before that. Oddly enough...the AMD wasn't complete garbage.

I'm just curious about the "Wifi expansion card"

Haven't seen one that goes in an expansion slot for many a year. they're all USB now.

Anyway.. Apple was the one who started the 'on board' WiFi crapola. In their great quest to have nothing to plug in.

Modern PCs.. Most will have integrated WiFi if you're buying from HP, Dell, whatever.. If you're going out and buying your own motherboard.. Not so much, though.. Certainly possible to find them if you want.

I had an original IBM PC. Yeah, the 8 bit 4.77mHz. Pre XT, pre AT. TWO 360k 5.25" floppies! Also had one of the original Compaq's.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compaq_Portable

30lbs of portable PC power.

It's way more then just that. And Apple was NOT the first. You could buy Mobo's with it builtin long before Apple did it. In an attempt to make manufacturing cheaper. A mobo that has a built in card is cheaper to produce and generally JUST AS GOOD as a separate one. It also uses less power and doesn't stop the end user from upgrading down the road.

A slide rule. One of my fellow band members bought a calculator in 1974. He was the first to have one. It could add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and cost $100. I had to buy a calculator in the fall of 1975 for college, as a slide rule would no longer do. It also cost $100, but could do a lot more.

I threatened to replace the laptop of one of our finance guys at work with an abacus and a typewriter. No joke, he looked me dead in the eye and told me to do it - he'd be able to work just as quick
