Yes if they figure out your username and password. Use encryption to help safeguard. I think you might be able to go to google and erase your history. It might get rid of some of the info.
I have some financial things I don't want others to be able to read.
You're going to have to be more specific on what you are asking.
Anyone can access your email if they obtain your username/password. Just as that's how you access your email.
From a legal perspective - Google can likely be forced to give access to authorized parties by the courts.
Email isn't a secured communication medium by design. So messages transmitted between mail servers can be intercepted. There are ways to protect that through encryption - but that's not done by default (there are secure mail services).
If you keep your email on your computer and someone get access to that computer, then they have access to your email as well.
So to answer your question - yes. Pretty much anyone can access your email. Just as anyone can get into your house and get hold of any hard copies of your financials. It's just how likely is it for that to happen.
Then there's the old fashioned standby of keeping your gmail folders cleaned out and storing financial information you do want to keep elsewhere (flash drive, CD, external drive, etc.) not leave it on your computer.

Assume that your gfail data is bare naked to anyone from law enforcement, Alphabet and their partners as well as brokers and NGOs who have purchased (or been kindly given) your data by the aforementioned parties.
