Microsoft is launching a new campaign to try to get consumers and businesses to take a second look at Windows Vista, its much-maligned computer operating system.
Some believe the company’s stronger push on Vista’s behalf is long overdue.

If it doesn't come out until 2015, it'll could three years after XP becomes unsupported. But who knows?

How do you surf online with 3.1? I could barely do it with Win95 a zillion years ago.
With regard to the OP. Vista will become the Windows ME of the 21st century. I don't want it. I just hope they come out with something better before I need a new computer.
What irks me about the whole Vista thing is that it is so obviously designed for multimedia and gamer types. Neither of which are important to me. At the very least they could have come up with a "business" version that gets rid of all the unnecessary garbage.

The guy with 3.1 has dialup and software from his ISP that is so old it's impossible to get an update - but it all works. Very, very, slowly...

How is Vista anything like WinME? Vista has already been out longer than ME was sold and its not going away any time soon. ME was based on the crappy old Win9x kernel and was horribly unstable. Vista is just as stable as any of the other NT-kernel Windows I've run.
As far as a business version of Vista, how about, oh, Windows Vista Business? It lacks the media center stuff that the home versions have. Not that it matters. How does Windows shipping with movie maker or media player interfere with anyone's ability to use it for business? Do you really need to get back an extra gig of disk space? What's the smallest hard drive you can buy today, anyway?
