Yes. But it does help a bit with navigating, opening/closing windows, etc

I've had mine for about 3 years. I love it, with the exception of sound volume, which is absolutely abysmal. Check that out before you buy one.

Requires training. Both the software and the speaker. The more consistent you are in your speech patterns and the better you enunciate (Think of those people who narrate TV shows. Ever notice how they pronounce every letter in a word? i.e. property, not properdy) the better the result.

I agree. I think that if I had taken the time to correct all of the mistakes, the software would have learned my speech patterns in relation to those particular phrases and done a better job in the future.
At least that's what it purports to do.
