I find that not clicking on every stupid thing on the Internet stops 99% of it.

Antivirus software is somewhat useless at best, you're only protected agains malware that's at least a few days old, and it's being updated so often that there isn't an AV app available that's going to do you much good. If you don't modify your clicking habits you doomed to reinfection.

Almost all of the PC's I get in my shop that are infected were, at the time, running an up to date AV app.

If you want something for your Mac, Sophos has a free AV app.
