W.H. is quaint and has some appeal, but it's small and eventually you run into the same people who snub ya. The cold weather can be long and brutal. Property taxes are super high as was oil prices and electricity. In retrospect, I would have rather lived in Hartford--bigger houses, lower cost and more diversity.
Then you've obviously not spent any time in Hartford. I lived in both places... the beat is a dump.

Diversity is great... a higher per capita murder rate than NYC is not.

The SE corner on New Britain Ave past New Park Ave is basically Hartford. It is very different. The east side close to Prospect from Farmington down is more likely to have problems.

Good points about NE aloofness. I do get a sense of entitlement from many but that happens to be the price we pay for all the good stuff. Every place has a price to pay, right? We moved from SC. People are VERY friendly there. It is also a very red state with a rebel flag flying on the capitol grounds.

Regarding the liberal label, it is no Northampton!

As people here often have noted, connecticut people are more reserved. it is not that they are unfriendly, they respect other's privacy and do not wish to intrude. Jay
