Thought I might give the normal around here a break and talk about firewood... Does Anyone use a firepit in the summer? I just realized the bundles of firewood at super market is $6 for 6 pieces. Thats $1 each! Thats crazy!

Does anyone actually buy them?

My mom is wild about firepits and uses them everyday so I have some exposure to firewood because of her. $6 is outrageous for 6 pieces of wood; last summer you could buy a bundle of firewood at the Christmas Tree Shop for $1. You can check out bargainnews.com and look at the firewood section; prices in lower Fairfield County are about $150-$250/cord. If you want super affordable wood, think about driving to Downeast Maine; almost every other house on a primary road sells firewood dirt cheap.

Sure - people will buy anything if it's convenient. But that price is outrageous. If you also have a fireplace, get a cord delivered now - I'm sure the usual companies will give you a good price since it's off season.

Or, you can come over to my house and clear out my woods! I'll let you have all the firewood you want!

I will buy them occasionally during the summer.

I won't store firewood over the summer months on my property..attracts too many critters (mice, snakes, spiders).

I plan to buy some more in the next few weeks, we don't have a lot left over from last year. But I would never buy it from a grocery store!
