since you will be commuting with a chiold, I would recommend being as close to your job as possible. Middletown has a number of apartment complexes in your price range (actually even less) and would be convenient for both of you. I would also suggest looking in Cromwell and Rocky Hill. Check craigslist.com for condo listings in these towns as well as realtor.com for apartment complexes. Good lluck, Jay

Those suggestions will probably make for a hellish commute for the OP's husband. IMHO.

Will your husband be able to take the train into Bridgeport from New Haven? That might make his commute a little simpler and a long commute more doable on his side.
I wouldn't recommend Middletown- it is further east than you need to be for a commute to Bridgeport. I'd recommend Cromwell or maybe Wallingford, a little further south, something close to I-91 and the Wilbur Cross/Merritt.

I highly recommend Cheshire, Prospect, or Southington.

Are you thinking of downtown Middletown? The Westfield section of Middletown is right along I-91. It is located just south of Cromwell and ahs a lot of apartment and condo complexes that would fit the OP's description. It is very convenient to Hartford, New Haven and Bridgeport. Hamden would be the approximate half way point but since the OP will be traveling with a child, it is better for her to be closer to Hartford. Jay

Actually, something with easy access to both I84 and Route 8 would be ideal. Wolcott, Cheshire and certain sections of Waterbury would provide the access to I 84 close enough to catch Route 8 for your husband, and would also enable you to reach Hartford easily enough.

I agree. Somewhere near where Rt 8 and 84 meet would be ideal.

Again, the Op will be commuting to Hartford with a child. It is best to not travel that far if you have a kid on board everyday. I would still recommend something closer to Hartford. Jay

Check out the Newbury Apts right off the 91 in Meriden. Well under $1400/month too so you can save a ton of money.
