I'm not referring to the racetracks in Thompson/Waterford/Stafford, rather the several cases of reckless driving on 395 in Windham County.

In Thompson, someone was pulled over doing 105 mph. Just saw in the Courant someone was caught going 99 mph in Plainfield a couple days ago. And that was the third time in a week someone was busted near/above triple digits. I know there are plenty of people out there who have gone 100+ on 395, happens quite a lot. I'm surprised there aren't more cases like these.

So my question: what is the fastest roadway in Connecticut? 395 north of Norwich? 84 east of Hartford? Anywhere with a car with a New (York/Jersey) license plate? Take your pick.

RT 11 through Colchester/Salem...1990 I hit 152 on the Ninja ZX10... Nothing but straight for something like 10 miles. Never did it again, though!

Ah yeah, I forgot about that one. That does go nowhere.

I once hit 108 in my car (as fast as it goes) on the far eastern end of the old Turnpike (secret Route 695 in Killingly), but again that area is fairly straight and deserted. Not going anywhere near that fast again, been in too many wrecks and pulled over a couple times too many since for that to NOT be scary.

I know my brother once cracked 125 (while I was in the car) on a highway near Worcester, trying to chase a friend of his doing 130.

I used to average around 90 driving north on I-91. I had an excuse though; I was driving a Jaguar at the time. Surely no one expected me to go 65??

Agreed, Tetto. Route 11 in Colchester/Salem is RIDICULOUS. Complete straightaway with hardly any traffic (because it's not even a finished highway)! But I-395 north of Norwich has always been notorious for speeders. My cousins from MA compare it to a NASCAR track.

I've noticed lately that the NY/NJ people are driving a lot safer. I'm not sure why everyone pins them as the "fast drivers" as people in CT are just as, if not more, reckless.

Rt 8 south of Waterbury/Naugatuck is a speedway. People generally don't go 100+, but at 80 between Seymour and Trumbull, it's probably just as dangerous as going 105 on I-395 - mostly due to the narrow shoulder, winding roadway and on-ramps where you have to STOP to yield when merging.

91 between New Haven and Hartford is another death trap. I've seen people blow past me going what I believe was at least 100. Most have CT plates.

Jag or not, there's NO reason to go 90mph on ANY highway in CT.

Agreed aside from rushing someone to the hospital or getting to one with someone on their deathbed.

As for the subject, as the owner of insanely powered cars (500+ hp) in the past and youth and indescretion present...I'll plead the 5th.
