Hi, need help

I'm from Chile and came here to study at UConn Law School (LL.M).

I'm trying to buy a car, but I need a Driver License. I went to the DMV to get one, but the lady of the front desk told me that I need an 8 hours driver lesson first!?

What the heck???

I'm 28 years old, with F1 visa (full time student), with a chilena driver license and with an International Driver License!!

The lady was wrong?? Or thats true??

Seems to me a little bit too much!

Please help!!

Thanks!!

DMV: Requirements for Foreigners Obtaining a Connecticut Driver's License

Regarding driving on the roads in CT, you can drive with your Chilean license as long as your "student status" is intact. You will not be able to get a CT driver's license unless you are a resident. (Since you are in school, you are not a resident.) Print out the page from the link above and show it to the person who is selling the car. If she has any problems with selling you the car after seeing it, please speak with a professional at a car dealership to find out what types of identification you must show a seller to legally purchase a car.

I was waiting for someone to post this! The seller might have some qualms about you test driving it. But once you pay for it, the seller won't have any liability.
