I'm homosexual. Would I be welcome to attend your church?

Which one you is ordained? And in what denomination? And why do you feel CT is a good place?

CT's real estate is astronomical compared to other places.

Can you site the source for this info? Because the info I read is that CT is the exception in New England for church attendance. We are close to the national average at 37%.

VT and NH were the lowest in the country.

A little about us. We are in our late 20's. We are pretty liberal, religious speaking. We are non-denominational.
Considering these things, where is an area that could use a church? Are people accepting of new people?
Thanks for any info!
I was also wondering which of you was ordained. If neither of you are, it sounds cultish to me. I think I'd want more info before joining a church. That said, I am open to a non-denominational church, I was married in one. I'm a liberal Christian.

My husband is ordained (and has been for 4 years) and I am in the process of my ordination.
Anyone would be welcome at our church.

I have to say I don't get it. Why do you want to start a church? Why do you think CT is underserved? And what kind of people do you expect to go to your church?
Your description as liberal and open makes me think of 2 congregations that already have lots of locations in CT: Unitarian Universalists and United Church of Christ. Neither one is bursting with membership at the moment. In these and other denominations, many churches have had to close over the last few decades.
There ARE some megachurches that have been built recently, but I can only think of two in CT or Western Mass.

I think this excellent post pretty much expresses my sentiments. Since churches in Connecticut aren't turning people away, how does a 'new' church better serve the citizens here and better serve God?

What does starting a new church accomplish, when we already have churches on every corner of every town? Megachurches seem to better serve the ego of certain "clergy" than the community...

I'd love to see the business plan....where does one get the funding to build a church without a congregation?
