It might be a faster commute if you buy in a totally different area even though the mileage is longer. I know it seems counter intuitive but the commute from the bridgeport area to stamford/greenwich is so bad at just about all times of day. It almost seems like there is a never ending rush hour during the week. If you are working at a church and your hours are mostly on the weekends and week nights to rehearse with the choir that would be a different story.

Btw, if you don't mind a small house (about 1200/1300 sf) that is a fixer upper you could probably squeak into trumbull or monroe with better school systems. If you don't need a good school system the north end of stratford is really nice and safe.

I went back and saw you are working in old greenwich. I used to work in riverside that borders old greenwich and that is a tough commute.
