No sorry. It's my favorite state in the country, but best is different for everyone. It's only best for me because my heritage is here. My friends are here. However if you are looking to start a small business, or want to get a HUGE house for the money you may consider Texas or Oklahoma best... I've met very nice people from almost every state at this point. If I was looking for mountainous scenic beauty I'd be in Utah....

we moved here from NY a few years ago. So far my quality of life is better up here, have a house that my mortgage would be 2.5x higher in NY. We go back to NY to visit family about once a month, it's only 2 hours away.

But, considering the size of the U.S., I think it's pretty darn good. There is no country of similar size or larger than the U.S. that is a better place to live, period. It's harder to manage a country this size, but considering the size and population, I think MOST other countries have something to be jealous of the U.S.

Most, yes, but not all. If I were Norwegian or Australian, I certainly wouldn't be jealous of the USA.
A lot of the problem with the USA is that there aren't enough people who identify as Moderate-Republicans or Moderate-Democrats. You have these two extreme sides constantly pulling at one another severely diminishing the quality of life for everyone.

Don't forget infrastructure (highways, bridges and tunnels, power grid, etc.): it's very antiquated.

True...and the elected officials are too concerned with pork spending (getting dollars back to their districts in order to be re-elected).
