Does anyone have any update when the new station will be up and running. I found a newspaper article from April of 2010 that said next summer but I'm hoping that's "old" news. I've been parking for free at the current fairfield station but I live right by what will be the new blackrock station so I'm dying to be able to leave my car at home and walk to/from the train.

There is a lot of construction going on right now at the station and a lot more is needed before the station is opened. I would think the next summer date is most accurate right now. sorry, Jay

Hi surfsnowgirl,

Where do you park free at Fairfield Train station? I take 6:40am train to NY city, park at daily parking spot cost 6$ a day.

Please let me know where you park free.

Thanks

You can go up the street to the Knights of Columbus - it's a little bit further up Unquowa (sp?) - just past that little condo complex, and only $4/day. Since you're on the 6:40 you should be fine to get a spot - 15 minutes later, and it's usually full.

I don't know where there's free parking, unless you know a store owner near the station and get a permit from them.

The south side of the station is at 23 Black Rock Turnpike. The north side is off Timko and Frank Streets. Jay

You can park for free under the I-95 over pass on Mill Plain Rd and the park and rides near both the North and South service areas. Its a little walk but they are full every day. When school is out during the summer break you can park for free in the Tomlinsin Middle School parking lot.
