My family and I just moved to Newtown about 3 months ago. We are looking for something to do in CT on Sunday. What would you suggest? It is my wife, 3 month old son, and depending on the suggestions, our English Mastiff?

Do you have a baby backpack to go hiking? You can drive up to Kent Falls and hike up there or Sleeping Giant. If biking is your thing, there is a great bike trail that almost runs from Cheshire to New Haven. Walking and biking permitted.

When your 3 month old is a little older, you should go to Kid City in Middletown. We had a year long pass there because my daughter just loved that place. You could go to the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport (an easyish drive down 25).

Have fun!

There is a whole thread on things to do in Connecticut. Take a look there for ideas. You might also check out the Norwalk Maritime Center. My kids loved that and it is not too far. You could also check out the sites at Putnam Park in nearby Redding. Interesting Revolutionary War site to walk around and see. Jay

Go to the Beach! Sherwood Island State Park in Westport... 30 Minute Drive. The dog would have to stay home.

If you don't want to drive too far, maybe try CoCo Key Water Resort in Waterbury. It's a huge indoor waterpark. Watch the video of it below. It looks like those kids are having a blast!

Yea take a 3 month old swimming. LOL

I agree with the baby pack and a a drive and short hike. Head up RT7, stopping at Kent and West Cornwall (Covered bridge) and when you are in Kent stop by Bulls Bridge (another covered bridge) but go across the street opposite way from the bridge and you'll be on a piece of the Appalachian Trail with some great views of the river ravine...easy walk with nice things to look at. Downtown Kent has a lot to explore as well.

IMO, even that is too much with a 3 month old. Plus it isn't necessary to go that far for hiking. Newtown has Paugussett State Forest and Lake Zoar to hike around.

Personally, I would wait and visit Kent and Cornwall in another month when the leaves are peaking!

Yeah, another month and Litchfield county will be a great place to visit! When my youngest was about 5 months old we hiked up Kent falls, I had him in a sling. He was already 20lbs, that was rough on my back. Plus, you'd need to be sure-footed! I also had to laugh about Coco Keys for a baby.

Still, you can head up north a little ways, only about 45 minutes depending on where in Newtown you are, and visit Action Safari. We were there a few weeks ago, and you can drive through much of it. It also has a museum. Even your 3 month old should enjoy the trip. You could pack your lunch or pick one up at a nearby store/deli and stop off at Mohawk Mountain state park, about 10 minutes away from Action Safari. It has beautiful views at the top. You just drive right up to the top and park, there are several picnic benches. You can walk/hike around there, too.

Well...I was more thinking of just experiencing Kent falls and the Kent area (and drive up) without having to hike to the top. You can still see plenty of the park without going to the top, even most of the falls can be enjoyed all the way from the bottom. West Cornwall is nice to park and wander around the small center and bridge and/or sit by the river or visit the furniture maker there etc.

I also agree on Action Wildlife.
