I know that I can turn right on red if there no pedestrians, no traffic ( safe to turn )and no turn on red sign. Can I do that in road test ? Or wait for green to turn. What is the best thing to do?

I believe the road test is to test your ability to drive. If you can legally make a right turn on red (meaning there is no "No Right Turn On Red" sign), then you should be able to do it on the test. Why wouldn't you? Good luck, Jay

Yeah, if you have a safe opportunity to make a right turn on red, just do it. I don't see how they can hold this against you.

I wouldn't. There's nothing saying you HAVE to turn, so why not just wait with your signal on? If you do make the turn, that's just another action they will judge and grade you on. Stay put until you have a green light or green arrow.

We didn't have right on red when I was 16 and took my test, however, what I'd do now, if I was tested, is say "it depends."

I'd turn if there were people behind me, -especially- if the person directly behind me has their right turn signal on. Otherwise, I'd probably just wait for the light to change.

Make the turn; not only are you following the law, you're also reducing your carbon footprint by not sitting there idling away unnecessarily.

The law doesn't state you must turn right on red if you're able to.

The law allows one to turn right on red unless otherwise indicated. Is that not following the law?

When one says "following the law", I assume this means doing what is expected. Drivers are not expected to make a right on red. You make it sound like the driver would be breaking the law if they didn't turn right on red.

I still stand by my opinion that the driver would be better off waiting for the green.
