What a winter! Burning through wood like crazy. Have to be about 4 cords in now. I spent yesterday filling my garage with more wood when I should be doing outside spring yard work...

I heard the same that there are no pellets available. as well.

Similar here. 3.25 cords now and that's with a bigger new efficient stove.

Had I kept the smaller stove I probably would be at 5 cords.

My older neighbor who loves his fireplace lights it every single day and keeps it going all day since November has gone through 5 cords. I always tell him what a waste a fireplace is. Burns wood quick and only heats a small area. But the location of his benefits his bedrooms which are the room right above it.

Got a delivery couple weeks ago..
Waiting for good opportunity to start splitting it which would be for 2015-16 heat.
Blue tarp is for this spring.
Green for 2014-15

I finally broke down and started burning next years wood. Burns decent surprisingly enough, but could definitely use a few more months.

The burning continues and its April! The stove has been going still. I have been burning all the branches and sticks that fell down in my yard from my trees. lol. Great way to get rid of them and free heat. I have also been busy stacking next years wood that I got for free. This has been a tough winter though...

Yup.. everything is running a couple weeks late for me this Spring. I think the cold unmotivated me a bit plus a late snow cover didn't help. Between seed starting, outside cleaning, tilling, and prepping for next years wood I'm all over the place.

Was just looking at my wood piles trying to figure out next years wood. We need to start stacking now so it's nice and seasoned by November.

I have 1 more seasoned cord left for April/May this year.

I have 3 cords stacked for 2014-15 so I need to split 2 more at least which can be done in a day or 2 so I'm not worried about that.

Then I split and stack a few cords for 2015-16. Sounds like a lot but it's the same routine as mowing the lawn once you get a groove going.

How's the wood going? .. sounds like you'll need to replenish next years stack

I've got about 3 cords that will be ready in the fall. Since I don't burn 24/7, that should be enough to last me through next winter. I try and do my splitting in the fall, so I'll split for 2015-16 this fall. I do it all by hand - its great exercise.

I am working on next years wood right now. I have a tree service that drops off free logs so I am constantly splitting and stacking. Free heat with great exercise. Cant beat it..

Forgot to mention. Cheap wood racks a friend told me about. 3 cinder blocks, 2 4x8's and 2 2x8's. No screws required. Can be moved quickly and works great.

Not sure about latest but it's up there. April 21-23 last year we were using it. May 12-15 and..

May 25th last year I was burning for heat. But that was a quick need. Day time high didn't pass 50° (end of May!) and night lows dropped to mid 30s. That was the final time.

But the constant bringing in firewood and loading stove does seem to be getting extended now...
