Hello, looking to buy an apartment in the Wolcott community, close to the Westfarms Mall and Wolcott Park. Plan on moving over the next 3-4 months, and know nothing about the area. Any opinions on the location/safety/construction/schools, etc? Also, any recommendations for other buildings, complex to consider? Thank you for any help and suggestions.

I know that area well. Where you're looking is a condomonium complex that's probably got units being rented out by the owners. It's a nice complex in a nice area (the West Farms neighborhood.) Lots of families. Close to there is Wolcott Park and Wolcott Elementary - the park is really nice and the school's reputation from what I understand is very good. Just to the west is the mall and about a half mile to the east is Elmwood Center, which has some really good pubs and ethnic restaurants. Just be advised you'll need a car to get just about anywhere - only the school and park are within walking distance, but the other places I mentioned aren't far and NB Avenue is on a bus line if you need it. Hope that helps a bit,
Mike

That area is just fine. You shouldn't run into any issues, other than maybe hearing highway noise if you step outside. My grandparents live right across the street from West Farms Mall, in one of those neighborhoods, and you can easily hear the highways (I-84 and CT-9) simply standing in their yard. It's annoying, but is more audible in the winter time because the trees don't have leaves to block the sound waves.
