I'm interested in getting Directv. Currently we have optimum triple play with one dvr. Directv is cheaper, but if i want to keep phone/internet with optimum, it goes up to $84.90/month for those two services, therefore canceling out the savings of directv....

"if tv's have a qam system, and most current tv's do, they can receive Cablevision broadcast stations and their digital off shoots, as well as Cablevision News and Weather, without a box. And HD stations are in HD"

UPDATE -- As of a month or so ago, Cablevision no longer makes broadcast channels available unless you have a box. There are some digital channels you can view, but only a very few. You now need a box for every tv unless you feed multiple sets from one box.

This is why all of my family that have Cablevision HATE them. They are by far the worst cable company. I never hear people with other cabel companies complain as much as Cablevision subscribers do. I keep telling them to file complaints with the town and the State but they do not. It is easier to complain. Unfortunately for them they do not have choices since AT&T do not offer service on their street. Jay

Just like I talk about being with Sprint cell since 1996...there's a reason why I'm with DirecTV since 2003.. However, I do use Cablevision for their internet...nobody has yet to match the speed of cable...Maybe Verizon has but availability is limited. As far as phones...havent had a house phone since 2006 and love the extra $40 a month.

We use AT&T U-verse and I'm fairly satisfied.

It's so sad that is the best we can hope for out of something we spend $100+ per month. But until home internet service is turned into a full-on regulated monopoly like electricity then we're stuck with prices rising faster than anything else (well, besides gas lately ).
